WeRobotics focuses on the large and broad potential of robotics technology for novel solutions in social projects such as in humanitarian aid, health, development, agriculture and nature conservation. With the easily accessible use of drones (and other unmanned machines) in combination with especially developed software, people in developing regions are empowered to tackle and master novel ways of solving problems themselves.
Examples of social projects using robotics technology:
- Health: medical care with drones, combating disease-transmitting mosquitoes.
- Infrastructure: Accurate terrain surveying and mapping in places where no data is available or satellite imagery is too inaccurate.
- Climate change: Creation of basic maps and change analyses.
- Humanitarian aid: maps for rapid assessments and action plans following natural disasters
Knowledge transfer and access to know-how via the Flying Labs network
WeRobotics is developing a network of local competence centers, so-called “Flying Labs” and puts at their disposal the expertise for the use of drones and for data analysis software. It establishes partnerships with leading companies in the drone industry in order to make the best technologies available to all. In principle, anyone can ” retrieve ” this expertise and use it on their behalf and also as the basis for their own business model – albeit according to clear rules that prevent misuse. A big advantage is that it is possible to learn to fly drones in a very short time.
Partnership with Jansen PrimeSteps Foundation
The Jansen PrimeSteps Foundation supports and facilitates the establishment of the latest Regional Flying Labs in Senegal. This Regional Flying Labs will be the pivoting point for all Flying Labs throughout West Africa.
There are two reasons why we’re doing this: Firstly, because we find the concept of using robotic technology for social purposes very convincing, sensible and promising on a grand scale. Secondly – and this is equally important for our foundation, which is committed to fighting poverty – because the WeRobotics concept offers a large number of people the opportunity to generate their own income or even create their own business (and thus create new jobs) on the basis of state-of-the-art technology.
