Independent life prospects for young women in Zimbabwe
As a contribution to self-help and women’s emancipation, the institution “Projekte für Afrikahilfe PfAH” is launching a project called Women’s Empowerment in Kariba, Zimbabwe. Women who were or are excluded from the public school system as victims of sexual violence or abuse are to be given a new perspective in a protected environment by learning vocational skills. The subject of instruction is the teaching of directly applicable basic skills, which also includes English, and of handicraft activities that help to become more independent, which can generate an income in the future (e.g. courses in sewing, basket weaving, batik, nail care, hairstyling and baby care). To ensure optimal sustainability, PfAH works with trusted local organizations and authorities.
