Switzerland is facing a shortage of specialists in the fields of mathematics, IT, natural sciences and technology (STEM fields). To reverse this trend, the academic high school Gymnasium Köniz-Lerbermatt has developed a trailblazing project to foster a new STEM culture and specifically to promote interest in these subjects among young people and highlight the prospects of careers in STEM.
As a foundation with industrial roots, Jansen PrimeSteps Foundation champions this approach and supported the STEM classes of the Gymnasium Köniz-Lerbermatt with initial funding to supplement the financing by the Department of Education of the Canton of Berne.
