Solar technology in Kenya brings hope for tomorrow
The Swiss Michele Ostertag started the self-help development project “Rafiki” in Kenya in 2002 with great personal commitment and has achieved a lot with it until today. Thanks to the Rafiki wa Maendeleo Trust aid organization, 36 affiliated villages in a remote region now benefit from training in various areas of life and a vocational training center that provides training for young people.
The association “HAM Rafiki”, founded in Nidwalden by entrepreneurial initiators especially for this relief organization, has been supporting the projects for years. The latest project – co-financed by us – is intended to promote solar technology, which is important for Africa. On the one hand, the existing training and education center is to be equipped with a photovoltaic solar system for power supply. On the other hand, the competence for solar systems is to be built up at the same time in the training center and the apprentice electricians are to be trained in solar technology.
